This appears in every way to be a Shimano Rapid Fire plus shifter for 12 speed rear derailleurs. I installed it along with a Deore XT 12 speed derailleur and some goofy generic gear set. It all works well but I did labor for a long time to get shifting smooth. I watched videos from various tubers but ultimately had to use the process from Park Tool to get it shifting up and down into all the gears properly. The thumb press is a bit harder but that can be adjusted by the tension on the rear. The index click is quick and easy. It’s nice and smooth.I can’t say this is an upgrade from the 9 speed Altus shifters my bike came with but there are more gears and maybe that’s better. Practically, I’m usually either all out or all in with my gear choice. That there are more options in between might be better for areas with more hills than here.
